Caprese Don Constanzo

Italian, 13 Woodside Cres, Glasgow G3 7UL

£60.30 for two startes, two mains and one drink

If we were rating Caprese Don Costanzo purely on atmosphere and service, it would score very highly. The staff were genuinely lovely, kind, attentive, and welcoming, and the restaurant itself has a classic Italian bistro feel. Family photos line the walls, the space feels cosy and relaxed, and the room has a warmth that makes it instantly charming.

Brie ordered the risotto Milanese, while Basil went for the pollo cacciatore. Both dishes were perfectly fine, but neither really stood out. The risotto was comforting enough, but lacked the richness and depth you would hope for from something so simple. The pollo cacciatore was hearty and serviceable, but, again, did not feel particularly memorable or well executed.

That really summed up the food overall. Nothing was bad, but nothing excited us either. It did the job, but it left little impression. Is this the best Italian restaurant in Glasgow? Probably not. Would we recommend it if you are specifically looking for truly great Italian food? Also probably not.

That said, Caprese Don Costanzo still has its place. If you are after a relaxed night out somewhere friendly, with decent food and a genuinely lovely atmosphere, it is a solid option. While we are not sure we would rush back ourselves, it is easy to see why others might. In the end, the atmosphere and service do most of the heavy lifting here.
